Experiensed martial artists only please?

first of all what style are you involved in? im 6th kyu (age 14) in shotokan and decent for my age not realy good not really bad..i have recently become interested in %26quot;drunken martial arts%26quot; that i ahve heard referred to as drunken boxing drunken fist etc..the idea is that alchohal losens your body (without getting drunk) muscles which alows your attacks to be mroe fluid. apart from this the style itself is uniquely fitted to look %26quot;drunken%26quot; i should very much like to learn the basics of this even if without the alchohal. what is the proper name where in north ohio can i find it? any info on this art is appreiciated

Experiensed martial artists only please?
Druken fist is not actually. done by drinking alcohol. The art gets its names from the jerky movements that look like the practitioner is intoxicated to the untrained eye.It is a very effective style because it atr first makes it look like the practitioner isuntrained. When the opponent finally catches on he still wont be able to touch the practitioner because the practitioner evades all the attacks by getting in some attacks of his own.As i said this is a very effective style.
Reply:Actually the true technique behind drunken boxing, or anything similar to it is that alcohol numbs pain. Hitting someone causes pain for your fist or foot as well, so if you numb the pain, you can hit harder without feeling it. Also It increases you endurance when being stuck, less pain means that if you would normally be doubled over, you might still be going for a while more. As for schools for it, I know that many formal martial arts look down on the ingesting of anything that inhibits Chi/Chakra flow. Drunken boxing is an example of external martial arts; that is martial arts that focus on training the body for combat. The more formal martial arts such as kung fu are known as inner martial arts; this means that they focus on the mind in order to operate the body. The latter often focus on weight distribution, pressure points, knife grabs, leg sweeps and techniques that rely on the mind. The former focus on how fast and powerful you can strike an opponent.
Reply:I instructed TKD and enjoy that style. Koreans TKD are the best kickers, but do not practice hand tecqs, or any grappling or ground work. I have seen this drunken boxing or drunken fist, but have not seen anywhere that teaches it.

Rent Jackie Chan%26#039;s Legend of the Drunken Master, it can shed some light on the subject for you.
Reply:Taekwondo 8yrs, chi lin (gung fu) 3yrs.

despite ppular misconseption drunken boxing is not preformed while intoxicated. alchol may loosen the body, and due to poor distance perseption you might even have more power, but that doesn%26#039;t change the fact that alchol delays reaction time, and impairs jugment skills. it is simply refered to as the drunken style due to it unique way of generating power. understand this style also goes by the name of flowing grass, and powerful water. its swaying motions and concepts from some monkey styles gives its power, and resembles being drunk. this is a very difficult style to fight with and requires great strength flexiblity and agility. if you are still intrested join a kung fu school, they probally won%26#039;t tell you they teach it because it is regarded as a %26quot;mastery%26quot; style (that and due to hollywoods portrayal of this technique). but you will still learn alot.
