What martial arts is good for me ?
Top Karate(also known as Full Contact or Sport Kick Boxing),Kick Boxing, MuayThai and Standard Boxing are the ones you are looking for.

If you are looking at an art for street fights, pick up Boxing.

If you want 70-80% punches 20-30% Kicking skills reserved for occasions you face a martial artist in the street, pick up Kick Boxing, Muay Thai, Top Karate, Seidokan Karate or San Da Kung Fu.

In all of the above people will wear two gloves and beat the hell out of each other.

There are some differences how ever.

SKD does not allow Low Kicks and Turn Back Fists.(Low kick is the kick landed below the waiste line excluding the groins and the knees.Turn Back Fists are performed bu the sown side of your fist(near the pinky) with your body turning one round and land the punch),Elbow and Knee techniques are not allowed.Grabbing the opponent should be less than 3 seconds.

KB, has the Low Kicks and the Turn Back Fist but does not allow the Elbow and knee.Grabbing for the purpose of disarming the opponent is not allowed.

MT, includea all of the above.

But if you want to go for MT, I suggest you better go through KB first, then Go for MT.

Casue in KB you%26#039;ll learn how to protect your face and you%26#039;ll have the risk of being punched at most.kicks are easier to avoid as they are generally slower than the punches.

But if you go to MT directly, you have the risk of recieveing elbow techniques and severe injuries due to that, just because you are new to MT and don%26#039;t know how to protect your face yet.

So learn to protect your face in a less risky environment.

I personally wanted to go to MT.So I listenned to the advice of a big man in MT and started with Kyokushin Karate and then I advanced into KB.There I fall in love with Kick Boxing and I decided to remain there.

Kyokushin was to learn how to protect agianst the kicks without the fear of your face being punched.
Reply:Maybe you should try boxing, because a majority of martial arts require footwork........I personally have done Karate, Kung Fu, and TKD.....and they all have fancy footwork....

Boxing really conditions your body well, and it can be used in real life situations.....the only thing that you would probably have to work on is punching without the gloves.
Reply:I apoligize in advance, but I am gonna try to give you the best anwser possible and I am going to seem long-winded. Do me a favor and think back, to the last fight you got in and finished before someone else broke it up....you probably ended up on the floor...where most fights end up. People are not prepared for grappling on the floor and dont feel comfortable there. Brazilian jui jitsu is a fantastic example. People condemn it when they see ultimate fighting because they think that the gracies just hold someone instead of fighting, but you gotta be smart about things. You can really hurt someone if you wanted to if you are proficient in it. If you absolutley have your mind set on stand up fighting styles, you need to do either akido or kempo. Kempo is really aggressive and you are taught how to disable someone in as little time as possible. You are taught ka-das, which is more like a dance that you do slowly, that helps hone the skills that you will need to accomplish these moves. There are many movements in these, but a person would be f%26#039;ed up way before you did too many of the moves! I can tell you that they do something called %26quot;the dance of death%26quot; where when you get someone on the ground, you kick their ribs and stomp on their throat! Like I said, it is pretty aggressive. I myself, actually prefer Akido, it is extremely non-violent. It has virtually no strikes, rather you wait for someone to put their hands on you and you subdue them and make them hurt so bad that they know that you dont need to be messed with...I would seriously suggest checking this one out if you have a place near you. I didnt think that I was gonna like it but I was really suprised!!
Reply:a good rounded martial art that is effective and conditions your body is kickboxing. you incorporate hand skills, as well as kicking skills. there is a lot of sparring and you learn how to distance yourself from your opponent, you learn fantastic striking skills, build tremendous stamina, and you learn skills that can help in tight situations. i highly reccoment it. now to find a good teacher.... lol. hope this helps out and you find the best martial arts for you. ^_^

XMA 4 LIFE
Reply:You can%26#039;t go wrong with muay thai, it%26#039;s aggressive, effective and not only uses punches, but elbows, kicks and knees as well. The muay thai clinch is very dangerous, and the roundhouse kick is arguably the most powerful of all stand-up martial arts.

If you want to just throw punches, then boxing is for you, boxers have devastating punches and their training is awesome.

Other suggestions are kickboxing (not the tae-bo stuff, the real one), san shou and kyokushen and shidokan karate (I don%26#039;t know which one you took but look up those two), they have videos on youtube (tournaments)

I hope this information was useful

good luck!
Reply:Before shutting out Karate, you must know that there are three distinct forms. I believe that shotokan karate is the most practical form of martial arts. Even though it consists of a lot of hand techniques, it give people of a smaller body type a chance to generate power using things other then muscle.
Reply:Try boxing (fees are usually low) or wing chun. (or both)
Reply:Many arts are aggressive. The following arts are aggressive %26amp; PURE 110% Self Defense there%26#039;s no BS or formalities. Or as you put it fancy things.

Reply:you would like the martial art I study, its called Hsing-I. In Hsing-I there is no retreating, your goal is to blow through your enemy quickly. My teacher was not big on teaching us kicks (and there weren%26#039;t many to begin with) so its pretty much a boxing art. Hsing-I is also not a pretty art there is no aesthetic value to it. As I like to say my martial art is just like me short and ugly.
Reply:Kajukenbo or CHA 3 kenpo.

  1. OT: Uhm okay, now I got it. Right now it seems Manny Pacquiao is retiring. Fortunately we can still see his training for previous fight with Tim Bradley at the Manny Pacquiao Official Youtube channel.
