Open Palm Martial Arts?

What type of Martial Arts would be best for a 14 almost 15 year old 5%26quot;9 135lb girl who likes the open palm style to look in to?

Open Palm Martial Arts?
I have rank in three arts, and one of them we used open palm techniques a lot in our training. It was Kenpo Karate.

Yes the open palm is just another strike as said above no arguement our doubt there. Kenpo however in the school I was in emphasized a lot of open palm techniiques for Ippon or for Self defence and a whole blocking system very similiar to the traditional 4 blocks but done with a more chinese open palm fluid motion, this is what Kenpo taught me to learn to use circular motion as well as linear motion. To restrict yourself to just one is limiting, so that is one art i knowt personally that emphasized it, and it was Ed Parker Kenpo not villari or Masters to be mistaken for Kempo.

I am not saying this is the only art that emphasizes its use. All the arts have open palm techniques. I just in my experience found it being used a lot more in my Kenpo years.

The best thing for your child is to make sure the teacher is legitimate and not selling Black belts in programs. You can never quite know how long it will take to test for that privelage and no one can tell you exactly when you will be ready unless they are psychic.
Reply:No martial art is classed as an open or closed palm. This is simply the type of strike used, not a definitive characteristics of the art. Having said that, many kung fu styles include open palm strikes. Wing Chun would be perfect: it was designed by a woman for woman, with focus on quick hand strikes and snappy low kicks. However, Wing Chun doesn%26#039;t require strength; rather is discourages fighting strength against strength, and focuses on diverting and evading an attacker%26#039;s energy.

Just so you know, open hand strikes (palm heels, knife-hands, slaps, etc.) are weaker than closed-hand strikes. So in a real fight, just put up your dukes. Kung fu can%26#039;t teach you that.
Reply:TaiChi.
Reply:You could go www.wikipedia.org

%26gt;%26gt;search for martial arts %26lt;%26lt;

then, scroll down to almost the bottom and you would find a list with different martial arts
Reply:I%26#039;m a black belt in shorinji kempo karate. It has a LOT of open hand techniques however you don%26#039;t typically get to that stuff until later on in the class. But it varies by school. I%26#039;m 14 and I believe that kempo karate would be perfect. It teaches mostly open hand techniques like holds and positions but it also teaches to not be afraid to use hard fist to help you get your attacker into open hand submissions.
